Two wonderful men helped me hoist an entire conference room worth of furniture. Actually, I stood there and they hoisted.
This positive life outlook thing is working.
Sidenote: Last night, I got a call from a guy who will be my salsa instructor soon. He leaves a message and tells me to call back Enrique. Honestly, I would’ve been laughing less hysterically at the name if he had said Fabio. Really! Probably one of those unknown giggle fit triggers. That first lesson is going to be loooong
June 17, 2008 at 2:23 pm
It isn’t. I told you, innit?
Oh no wait, I didn’t tell you, did I?
Be on the positive side of the road. In the middle. Watch for the traffic though
June 17, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Lol, Isseh. Middle of the road, huh? I’m actually feeling tremendously relaxed and optimistic this month. Had a bit of a glitch but it’s out of my system now.
Oh, and my sister is coming down for a visit. She got her first ‘gigantic’ – her word – paycheck and she’s treating yours truly to a great weekend.
June 17, 2008 at 2:45 pm
^Good to hear of this month. I think if you keep up the attitude, glitches would be a thing of the past. Being relaxed and optimistic is a great combo but that would give you peaceful days. Can you handle that?
Aya, maasha-Allaah, you seem to be in a good state of mind. May Allah increase it for you. And believe with a ‘gigantic’ paycheck like that, you could have lovely weekend… lovely, you hear?
*resumes to day-dreaming*
June 17, 2008 at 2:52 pm
Isseh, thanks walaal for the duca. I intend to enjoy the time she’s here. Lol @ daydreaming.
I have to remind myself that if I have my health and the people that I love, everything else works itself out. Until the next aggravation, of course. Just kidding.
June 17, 2008 at 3:34 pm
^U wlcm for the duca. If I were a Suufi i’ll be asking for siyaaro Alle, but hey! It’s modernism, they say..
Absolutely. If you have your health, and people who care for you around, there’s little else you need to make you happy.
Ah, for me, just me is enough to make me happy. And perhaps a desert to get lost or err a cave to rest in!
But hey, you’re alright lady… give us a smile, would ya?
June 17, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Isseh, my big ole toothy grin is never far away
You sound like a man of solitude. Must be quite the challenge living in this noisy world of ours.
June 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Enrique I could handle, Fabio would have done me in.
June 18, 2008 at 8:45 pm
^ Fabio is too damn much.
June 18, 2008 at 11:38 pm
Aya,
The only people who normally think that chivalry is dead are Americans, who are usually surprised by any act that would come normally to most people.
I am glad though that you had your faith restored. Move to Europe, and you will realise that not all people are uncouth.
On another note, maybe it’s my German self, but I did not understand why Enrique would be shocking and not Fabio…
Finally, any interesting plans for the summer?
June 19, 2008 at 7:36 am
I am glad that you’re taking salsa – you’ll love it
June 19, 2008 at 10:33 am
Salsa? it broke my knees – i’m scared for you…just kidding. I’ve just had a call from my chakacha instructor, binti kidebe, what a sweet voice. LOL
ps i’m glad y’all liked taarab
Holler to Amtaf and Firefly(?)!!!
June 19, 2008 at 10:46 am
Damn it! i’m blind…Firefly isn’t present today but Holler to PARADISE, ZEGERMAN, MR JUBOONEYSAA (waryaa mafrashkii ha inoo ahaato)
June 19, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Zegerman,
Good to see you around again!
What passes for normal behaviour around here is gawking out of your car window and causing a traffic jam while you catch a glimpse of an accident or even a stalled car.
My faith’s been battered for years now but not completely destroyed, thankfully. It is always such a delightful surprise to visit some European cities and run into gentlemanly behaviour. A move? Don’t tempt me, I just might do it
Enrique just sounded too cliche for a Salsa instructor. But that’s just me, though. I have interesting fall vacation plans (London, certainly, not sure where else I can squeeze in) but probably a few long weekends here and there during the summer. It looks like a weekend in Miami is in the August plans. You?
AMTAF, I can’t wait
Cigaal, you’re scaring me with that broken knees talk. I can’t afford to injure anything. But now that I think about, you probably would’ve been okay if you didn’t have two left feet and was daydreaming about binti kedebe
June 19, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Are you going to wear those bathing suits that pass as dancing outfits?
June 19, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Oh girl, you better believe it! If I can’t wear them on the beach, I’ll do it in the studio
Of course, it could look a little loonie for the first few lessons, so my t-shirt and pants should suffice.
June 19, 2008 at 8:24 pm
^Then you must include some pictures…preferably with Enrique giving you the latin lover embrace ooooooooh.
* of course you can replace your face with a smiley for privacy of course
June 19, 2008 at 9:17 pm
^ Say no more, hon, I am on it before my ashy knees catch a twirling draft!
Lovers’ embrace???
Latin???
*wonders what Enrique looks like*
*runs to phone to push back first lesson – why wait?*
June 20, 2008 at 12:53 pm
how do you set up an exit sign for wadaad? right about hereØØØØØØØØØØØØØØØ
Lone Dreamer and hey ppl I really do believe in a good suntan i.e. deep choco-tan. besides vitamin D (which is crucial for various uptake processes in the body) you have many benefits for lazing in the sun. Now go hit the beach!!!!
June 20, 2008 at 2:13 pm
lol sorry about the visual Mr. Wadaad
Aya — I can feel the heat all the way from here. I’d rather have a lesson from Enrique than Mike ;p
June 20, 2008 at 2:51 pm
If you forget me, I am Pablo mi alma Lone Dreamer (exit Mike). Tonight i write:

I’m pulling a fast one on salsa (i thought it was food) ppl.
June 20, 2008 at 9:17 pm
Dreamer, hon, that Enrique better not look like Edward Elmos, that’s all I’m sayin’.
Pablo, why don’t you post the video with binti?
June 23, 2008 at 7:29 am
Aya,
I can’t believe all this talk was generated by your response to Enrique! Anyways, how did the first lesson go?
Cigaal, long time no hear. How’re you? Considering how you’re a frequent commenter on our blogs, when will we ever get to read yours?
June 23, 2008 at 10:11 am
^Ma aragtey?
June 23, 2008 at 12:20 pm
AMTAF, it’s the name, I tell you! LOL. My first lesson is tonight, hon, and then the next in a couple of weeks since I’m traveling for business.
LD,
