My hair is driving me mad. This is the 3rd fucking brush that breaks and the bristles get lost in my tangled middle of the head mess. Is there something in the water? Is it because I’m living on an oil field? Nothing is working. Nothing. Now it’s falling at the front too. Are these mofos poisoning me? It wouldn’t be the first time a black person is killed in the south.
I think I’m chopping it all off. I don’t know. I should be straightening it now instead of blogging but the pony tail that’s supposed to tame the flyaways is making it hard to blink. I can hear the strands snap at the hair line. I know people are suffering with real dilemmas the world over but I need help, people. When your own reflection scares the shit out of you, you’re due for an intervention.
Damn.

LoooL. I chopped mine off this summer and have not regreted it for a moment. I use a solid conditioner that has shea in it and there has been little bad behaviour since. In fact I’m going to look for pure shea butter and slap that on too. Try it!

just get a good conditioner and while its on in the shower, comb ur hair. it’s less painful and faster, especially when the waters falling on the hair. and put oil or something on the front hairs.
ps–ur hair looks like the soft type…not the type to eat brushes.

Conditioner!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can’t live without it! I condition my hair always and it gives me no trouble (most of the time). Don’t worry hun, we all have bad hair days but don’t rush for the scissors just yet.
Go to a good hair salon and get some there – might be more expensive but totally worth it! Try Redken – works beautifully for me.

Paradise, I am so jealous! I think I’m just fed up with my long hair. The shea butter product sounds good but I live in as dusty a spot as can be. Sigh.
Queen, my hair is the typical nomad hair, tangle and curly. It’s just turned demonic on me for the past few weeks. Me suspects the environment.
AMTAF, thanks for the recommendation hon. I think I have enough conditioners to open a small retail shop. Most can tame my curls but my hair is now finer, more frizzy, tangled in some spots and falling in others. It’s like slaying a dragon. I really suspect the environment.

My hair used to be really really long, and I used to be so proud of my beautiful hair so I took my scarf off at weddings ,school,,anywhere(women only gatherings) and guess wat happened !!WAA LAA EE XASEDAY…..
Then it stared to fall out like crazy soo I had to CUT it off,,now I think it’s the same length as your hair,,,,
Bas yes I guess combing it with a good conditioner(just put oil on your hour an hour before u take a shower) under water IS THE BEST way, mine looks like Malaysian hair when I’m taking a shower,,why can’t it stay like that ALWAYZ..!!!!
سمعتي النكتة البايخة ,انه اذا بغيت تعذب بنت صومالية بس مشط شعرهااا..
أحس احيانا انه معاهم حق(لووول)

My hair is like a wild beast that will never be tamed. I have come close to shaving my it off a million times but i am not brave. Good luck

Aya, I say it has to do with the environment and maybe bit of stress. as falling hair is usually sign of stress, try to relax more, get nice message and take your vitamins. It really helps. I have a curly hair that grows a lot faster then i keep up with so the longer it gets the more it tangles up. My solution used to be chopped it all off every couple of months. Now I am letting it grow for the first time so I have it blown up once a week and use flat iron to keep it up here and there but generally I don’t even wash it…I let my Arab stylist deal with. by the way she does it at her house so it’s not like i am paying arm and a leg for it

Judging from your pic, I think we may have the same type of hair and I just chopped mine all off recently because I got fed up too lol. What you need is a sulfate free shampoo ( u can usually find them at health food stores depending on ur region) which will nourish your hair and as the other ladies above mentioned, condition it daily because curly hair is so temperamental that any changes in mood, diet, activity and especially weather really affect it (I’m sure somewhere therein lies the cause of your breakage). Also, only comb it in the shower when you’re putting in your conditioner then only use your fingers from that point on. Daily leave in conditioner is your best defense
Hope that helps.

Everybody above has said all that I wanted to say!
Now……I wish you find the culprit soon and sort out the problem…don’t rush into cuttin it all off!
inshaAllah kheyr

إيمان سلامتك من الحسد حبيبتى، فيه بعض الناس عيونهم حاقدة و قلبهم اسود يا الله.
Shukran, habibty, for the advice, I think my hair is reflecting my general sense of well-being which is not so great in this city but the end is near.
Native Daugther, I know all about beasts, good luck with yours too, hon.
Nahja, thanks hon. I definitely think stress has a great deal to do with the hair just falling (or maybe not replacing as fast). In all the years I’ve taken a project that required this much traveling, this is the first time I am just worn out in every way possible. My hair is a tangled, weak mess but I could really use your Arab stylist
fffffellini, thanks so much for the tip walaal, it does help. I’ve never heard of sulphate-free shampoo. I’ve known for quite a while that most hair products are not made for our hair type but I think this time around, the culprit is much more than my nomad locks losing their minds. I was daydreaming about scissors and a short pixie cut today
Native, hon, thank you. I don’t think I will chop them off yet, I will probably be clueless on how to manage them and look presentable every day but I can’t guarantee that I won’t once this project ends.
Tito, friend, how have you been? I need to sue someone walaal for the air quality and this mad place I work in (how much complaining can I possibly do about a 3 month term
? I am very well, otherwise, and thank you for the complement walaal, my hair’s just about lost its mind but there are worse things to deal with in this world. What are you up to these days?

dont cut your hair all off!! i did that in anger and frustartion one time and i sported a halle berry do for a family wedding…not cool
but i just cut my hair to! the ends were killing me and the bangs kept bugging my eyes…finally manageable hair!
November 26, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Idil, I couldn’t do short or bangs with my hair texture but I think I will go shoulder length for now.
